In Tall Guy: Run! the distance you can get depends on the size of your character. A thin stickman starts a race on a track with mathematical gates, barriers and walls blocking the path. Every choice influences your character’s height, width and speed. You don’t just want to make it to the finish line you want to be powerful enough to break through that last barrier, beat the boss, and grab some rubies to unlock new content.
The most interesting part of Tall Guy: Run! is the gates which symbolise addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division. The blue gate can increase your character's size, while the red region can diminish their size. So instead of merely sprinting in the direction that seems most convenient, you have to think about the possibilities in front of you and compute the best route.
Use resources before each play to enhance speed, height and width. A tall figure can jump over things you need strength for, while good speed lets you react faster to successive challenges. Don't underestimate width, overall size also influences your capacity to jump over obstacles at the conclusion of the track.
The red trampolines help the stickman to jump over barriers, obtain gems and conquer unavoidable objects. But you still have to know when to leap. If the jump is not precise enough, the character may miss the item or may not be big enough to finish the challenge.
The end of the track is often a test of the whole character development process. You want to get enough height and space to break through the last hurdles, then throw the knockout punch to the main boss. If you only focus on speed and ignore the improvements in size, the last leg can be harder than you think.
Rubies acquired via gameplay are a significant resource for unlocking content. You can use them in the costume shop, which is split into three categories, Body, Head and Special. You can also personalise your stickman with items such as golden crowns, baseball caps, combat axs or boxing gloves.
Some missions, importantly, demand you to work against your normal reflexes. It’s not about avoiding all dangers sometimes you have to run into hurdles to get rewards. Make sure you read the objectives before starting so you don’t miss out on any exceptional incentives.
Unlocking the urban map turns Tall Guy: Run! into another activity. You will be fighting with rival stickmen and spending rubies and points to grow your small metropolis and progress in successive races to get better.
The two gaming sections feed into each other, with the race track offering opportunities to acquire resources, and the city offering long-term ambitions for growth. If you want to proceed swiftly, concentrate on upgrades to get over the last hurdle before spending too much rubies on costumes.
It blends obstacle course running, character development and city construction all into one gameplay loop with many goals to pursue in Tall Guy: Run!
