Curve Ball 3D is a skill-based arcade game heavily inspired by Pong, but it transforms classic table tennis into a 3D confrontation with a direct perspective. You control a racket, catching the incoming ball, returning it to your opponent, and most importantly, finding ways to create spin to make your shots unpredictable.
Every game in Curve Ball 3D is a head-to-head contest: the first player to reach 3 points wins and moves on to the next round. The whole tournament comprises of 10 opponents and the challenge increases with each level. You have only 5 lives total to complete the whole quest.
One thing that most novice players forget is that the goals conceded do not reset everytime you switch to a new opponent. This means you will need to score 30 goals before your opponent scores 5 goals against you. This is not 10 separate games, but a prolonged war in which any minor error at the beginning of the game can prove expensive in the later rounds. This is what makes Curve Ball 3D a lot harder than you first think.
One of the most unique aspects of the game is the ability to put spin on the ball. If you move your racket just before you hit the ball the ball will have a specific curve in its trajectory making it much tougher for your opponent to predict where it will go – especially when it bounces off a wall. But note that the AI opponents learn this method too and the spin balls that come bouncing back at you are usually more difficult to return than the ball you just hit.
If you enjoyed Curve Ball 3D, then you should check Wave Rider, Curve Rush and Slope for more reflex, control and movement prediction arcade games. Wave Rider is all about fast reactions and precision control whereas Curve Rush is all about timing and controlling your trajectory. The thing that makes Slope special is the ever-increasing speed of the game, which requires players to watch the road, predict movements and react. The three games may not have the exact same principles as Curve Ball 3D, but they are all suited for people who appreciate demanding skills and seek a fast-paced game that is easy to pick up yet hard to master.
