Tomb Runner is a 3D endless runner game that puts you in the role of Professor Jones on a continuous run through ancient temples, stone bridges, ruins, and a series of trap-filled paths. The character moves forward automatically, so your job isn't to control speed, but to observe and react in time to what appears on the path.
Each turn of Tomb Runner starts quite simply. Professor Jones runs straight, and you need to control the character to move left or right, jump over gaps, and slide under obstacles. But the path constantly changes, meaning even a momentary delay can end the entire turn.
The noteworthy point is that the obstacles don't appear in a fixed pattern. Sometimes you must alter direction to escape an impediment, at other times you must jump through a tiny opening or duck to get under a low obstruction. As speed increases it becomes important to glance ahead and not only at your current position.

You will find coins, gems and power-up items along the road while running. These provide another layer of options to each route, allowing you to either take a safe path to keep your turn, or risk altering course to obtain rewards in more difficult to access spots.
On PC, the arrow keys handle all actions. The up arrow is for jumping, the down arrow for sliding, and the left and right arrows for changing direction. On mobile, the same mechanism is implemented using swipe gestures.
The difficulty of Tomb Runner lies not in the number of control buttons, but in when to use them. Jumping too early can cause you to fall before passing the gap, while sliding too late causes your character to crash into obstacles. So it is often better to anticipate and react early down the road than to go all the time by instinct.
With its continuous run and ever-increasing speed, Tomb Runner creates short playthroughs but always provides a reason to try again and break your own distance record.
