Tiny Garden War is a tower defence strategy game where players are tasked with defending a small garden from an onslaught of zombies. The apparently tranquil lawns soon become lines of defence, where the position of each plant is critical to the survival of the garden. Light is an important resource and seed packages define which plants you can use.
What’s unique about Tiny Garden War is you have to watch over numerous lanes at the same time. Sunflowers produce light for resources, Peashooters do the attacking, and Wall-nuts buy time from attacking zombies.
Cherry Bombs are good to use when a huge amount of zombies gather. Because each plant has a different role, where they are placed is just as important as choosing which plants to use.
Controls are quite simple. Players select seed packets, collect light, and then click on the desired location to plant a plant. However, easy operation doesn't mean you can place plants arbitrarily.
A row with too little damage will struggle to deal with zombies, while a plant-based attack formation is easily breached without Wall-nuts. Lawn mowers behind the garden act as the last line of defense when zombies break through the defenses, but relying too much on them often means the front line formation isn't properly positioned.
Tiny Garden War expands gameplay through various modes.
Most notably, I, Zombie, allows players to switch sides and control zombies to overcome the plant defenses. This reverse gameplay makes what you've learned about defense layouts a foundation for finding ways to break them.
The different modes provide different ways to approach the same garden, from progressing through levels to surviving prolonged attacks or understanding the battlefield from the zombie side.
The almanac records 48 plant types and 23 zombie types, along with information on each type's characteristics, stats, and role. The Player Profile also tracks progress, collectibles, coins, seed slots, and difficulty.
Additionally, five hidden tiles stimulate additional environmental interactions, including items that only appear under particular conditions.
The almanac and hidden tiles add more information and discoveries beyond the main defensive gameplay, giving players additional elements to observe while progressing through the garden.
Tiny Garden War makes a tiny garden into a continually changing puzzle of defence, where every plant placement needs a cause to be considered.
